Atmel - ATxmega128A3-AU" is a microcontroller model with 8/16-bit architecture and belonging to the XMEGA family. This microcontroller contains 128 kilobytes of memory, which is basically flash memory and can be programmed and erased multiple times. It also contains six peripheral modules that can be used for different tasks.

The ATXMEGA128A3-AU is a low power, high-performance 8-bit CMOS Microcontroller based on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. By executing powerful instructions in a single clock cycle, the XMEGA A3 achieves throughputs approaching 1MIPS per MHz allowing the system designer to optimize power consumption versus processing speed. The AVR CPU combines a rich instruction set with 32 general purpose working registers. All the 32 registers are directly connected to the arithmetic logic unit (ALU), allowing two independent registers to be accessed in one single instruction, executed in one clock cycle. The resulting architecture is more code efficient while achieving throughputs many times faster than conventional single-accumulator or CISC based microcontrollers. The XMEGA A3 device provides 128kB self-programming flash program memory, 8kB boot code section, 8kB SRAM, 2048byte EEPROM and up to 32MIPS throughput at 32MHz.
