The ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 3D Printer is a closed-enclosure FDM model based on a CoreXY design, designed for high-speed printing with a wide range of filaments. It offers a build volume of 256 × 256 × 256 mm, print speeds of up to 500 mm/s, a default acceleration of 10,000 mm/s² and a maximum of 20,000 mm/s², as well as a nozzle that reaches a temperature of 350°C. Automatic calibration, a closed chamber, a Dual-Gear Direct extruder, a camera, and a set of sensors simplify printer setup and help monitor the printing process. The Centauri Carbon 2 is also ready for multi-color printing via the CANVAS system, which is sold separately.
CoreXY – speeds up to 500 mm/s
The CoreXY design allows the printer to reach speeds of up to 500 mm/s, while the manufacturer’s recommended speed is 250 mm/s. The default acceleration is 10,000 mm/s², and if necessary, the maximum value can reach 20,000 mm/s², which helps reduce project turnaround time. Two 4260 stepper motors independently drive the X and Y axes, and low-friction metal linear guides ensure smooth movement of the mechanism. The integrated cast aluminum frame and base minimize vibration during high-speed operation, ensuring stability and a print accuracy of ±0.1 mm.
Stable Z-Axis Guidance
The Z-axis design incorporates 3 trapezoidal screws and 3 metal linear guides, which ensure stable guidance of the build plate. The mechanism’s three-point support helps maintain the correct position of the build plate during successive print stages, which is particularly important for taller models. Combined with a rigid aluminum frame, this solution provides a stable foundation for the high-speed CoreXY system and helps ensure layer-to-layer repeatability.
350°C Nozzle and a Wide Range of Materials
A nozzle capable of reaching temperatures up to 350°C and an enclosed chamber allow you to use not only basic filaments but also more demanding ones. The Centauri Carbon 2 supports 1.75 mm diameter filament and can print with, among others, PLA, PETG, TPU, PLA-CF, ABS, ABS-CF, ASA, ASA-CF, PET, PET-CF, PETG-CF, PC, and PA, as well as select PPS and PPA filaments. It features a 0.4 mm nozzle made of brass and hardened steel, a titanium heat sink, and a build plate that can reach temperatures of up to 110°C. This configuration provides greater flexibility in matching the material to the properties of the part being printed.
Automatic Calibration and Print Control
The Centauri Carbon 2 offers full automatic calibration and automatic leveling using measurements at 121 points, so preparing the printer to start printing requires fewer manual adjustments. A built-in camera allows you to monitor the printing process, while the filament end sensor and clog detection help quickly identify issues that could interrupt the project. The printer also features automatic filament ejection, fan control, and the ability to resume printing after a power loss. As a result, many tasks related to monitoring the process are performed automatically by the device.
Build volume: 256 × 256 × 256 mm
The 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume allows you to print both larger models and several smaller parts in a single print cycle. The printer uses a double-sided spring steel plate with a textured PEI surface and a surface specifically designed for PLA, allowing you to select the appropriate side for the material being used. The available layer thickness ranges from 0.1 to 0.4 mm, with a recommended setting of 0.2 mm. This allows the user to adjust the parameters to the desired level of detail and print time.
Ready for Multicolor Printing and Easy to Use
The ELEGOO Centauri Carbon 2 is ready for multicolor printing via the compatible CANVAS system, which must be purchased separately. It features a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen, while USB and Wi-Fi connectivity provide convenient options for transferring prepared projects. The printer is compatible with ElegooSlicer, Orca, and Cura, and supports STL, OBJ, 3MF, and STEP file formats. Quiet motor control on all axes keeps operating noise levels below 45 dB, and the printer is equipped with LED lighting and a HEPA filter with an activated carbon layer.
